And, to be honest, it comes with another, more uncomfortable one:<br data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"818\" \/><strong data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"911\">What if AI makes my value, my craft, my judgment, my perspective seem expendable to some?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"1218\">I don\u2019t say this just for myself. I say it because, historically, everyone has felt entitled to have an opinion about creativity: \u201cuse this color,\u201d \u201cchange the sentence,\u201d \u201cmake the logo bigger\u2026\u201d and now everyone believes they have the ultimate solution simply by saying: <em data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1218\">\u201cWe can do this with AI, right?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1487\">AI is no longer a lab experiment nor a trend: it\u2019s the tool that shortens paths. But it doesn\u2019t replace what distinguishes what is merely good from what truly matters: <strong data-start=\"1388\" data-end=\"1409\">human sensitivity<\/strong>, that blend of emotion, conflict and intuition that remains exclusively ours.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1494\" data-end=\"1536\"><strong data-start=\"1497\" data-end=\"1536\">The Real Impact of AI on Creativity<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1668\">Over the past two years, AI has burst into agency and brand creative processes with an uncommon level of force. Let\u2019s look at how:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Shorter Timelines<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1697\" data-end=\"2026\">AI-powered tools can generate copy drafts, visual variations, early storyboards or tone simulations in minutes. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/capabilities\/tech-and-ai\/our-insights\/superagency-in-the-workplace-empowering-people-to-unlock-ais-full-potential-at-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McKinsey &amp; Company<\/a> report notes that, although almost all companies are investing in AI, only 1% consider themselves \u201cmature\u201d in its deployment. The real leap ahead is not only technical\u2014it\u2019s cultural and strategic.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2028\" data-end=\"2167\">In the agency world, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/councils\/forbescommunicationscouncil\/2024\/06\/28\/creative-economy-20-how-ai-is-reshaping-the-role-of-creative-agencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forbes<\/a> study says <strong data-start=\"2069\" data-end=\"2144\">64% of agencies believe generative AI will act as a productivity driver<\/strong> in the next 12 months.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Delegation of Mechanical Tasks<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2209\" data-end=\"2548\">The artisanal part\u2014painstaking repetition, format adaptations, tone or color adjustments\u2014no longer demands the same manual effort. At DUPLO, we call this <strong data-start=\"2363\" data-end=\"2396\">\u201cfreeing your brain to think\u201d<\/strong>, because when we let AI handle the routine, we can dedicate our energy to what matters most: the idea, the conceptual direction, the strategic tension.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2550\" data-end=\"2676\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sortlist.co.uk\/blog\/creative-agencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A data point<\/a>: <strong data-start=\"2564\" data-end=\"2616\">around 85% of brands and agencies already use AI<\/strong> in at least one aspect of their creative or marketing work.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Acceleration of Ideation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2712\" data-end=\"3027\">Early-stage ideation, the phase that once required marathon workshops, can now use AI to design 20 or 30 variations in the time it used to take to produce five. At DUPLO, we\u2019ve seen that this doesn\u2019t make the idea weaker\u2014it makes it <strong data-start=\"2945\" data-end=\"2956\">sharper<\/strong>. With more options on the table, we must be more rigorous in choosing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3029\" data-end=\"3173\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2505.17241\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a> shows that human\u2013AI collaboration can <strong data-start=\"3075\" data-end=\"3102\">improve creative output<\/strong>, though it warns of a drop in diversity when AI dominates the process.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Risk of Homogenization<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3207\" data-end=\"3565\">Here\u2019s the provocation: AI can produce \u201cideas\u201d quickly, but many tend to look alike\u2014recycling tones, aesthetics and languages. This is a real danger for an agency whose differential value is originality itself. As a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorplayers.co.uk\/insights\/ai-in-the-creative-industries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Major Players<\/a> report points out, <strong data-start=\"3456\" data-end=\"3565\">70% of creative professionals believe AI will support their role\u2014yet many fear it may reduce originality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3567\" data-end=\"3671\">So yes, acceleration is happening.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"3567\" data-end=\"3671\"><strong>The real challenge is not losing what makes us human along the way.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 data-start=\"3678\" data-end=\"3759\"><strong data-start=\"3681\" data-end=\"3759\">The Point of Authenticity: The Vulnerability of Creatives in the Age of AI<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3761\" data-end=\"3832\">Let me be clear:<br data-start=\"3777\" data-end=\"3780\" \/><strong data-start=\"3780\" data-end=\"3832\">AI forces us to reassess ourselves as creatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3834\" data-end=\"4028\">Not because it\u2019s going to replace us, but because it accelerates the \u201cvisible\u201d part of creative work, while the truly valuable component\u2014our judgment, our idea, our concept\u2014becomes more exposed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4030\" data-end=\"4066\">And that\u2019s where the fear creeps in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"4070\" data-end=\"4168\">If I\u2019m no longer spending hours producing, will they still value the thinking behind the work?<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4171\" data-end=\"4323\">If anyone can generate an image or a piece of copy, will they understand the difference between what is \u201cpretty\u201d and what is strategically meaningful?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"4325\" data-end=\"4375\">AI doesn\u2019t strip creativity.<br data-start=\"4353\" data-end=\"4356\" \/><strong data-start=\"4356\" data-end=\"4375\">It strips <em data-start=\"4368\" data-end=\"4372\">us<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4377\" data-end=\"4485\">And although uncomfortable, that\u2019s a good thing. It forces us to raise the bar. If we no longer spend as much time producing dozens of pieces, we can invest it in strengthening the \u201cwhy\u201d behind each decision:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"4960\" data-end=\"5107\">\n<li data-start=\"4960\" data-end=\"5000\">\n<p data-start=\"4962\" data-end=\"5000\">What brand tension are we resolving?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"5001\" data-end=\"5036\">\n<p data-start=\"5003\" data-end=\"5036\">What emotion are we triggering?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"5037\" data-end=\"5107\">\n<p data-start=\"5039\" data-end=\"5107\">What understanding of the consumer do we have that no one else does?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"5109\" data-end=\"5355\">Second, we gain the ability to reach new layers of personalization and micro-segmentation that were previously too costly. A strong idea amplified with AI-generated variations can reach audiences with precision and relevance without losing scale.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5357\" data-end=\"5469\">This changes the equation:<br data-start=\"5383\" data-end=\"5386\" \/><strong data-start=\"5386\" data-end=\"5433\">value = (great idea + measurable execution)<\/strong> rather than high production volume.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5471\" data-end=\"5663\">Third, AI facilitates quick testing and iteration. What previously took days or weeks can now take hours. At DUPLO, we\u2019re seeing how this opens space to experiment, fail fast, learn and scale.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"5670\" data-end=\"5713\"><strong data-start=\"5673\" data-end=\"5713\">How the Value We Deliver Is Changing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"5715\" data-end=\"5843\">Here\u2019s a deliberately provocative statement:<br data-start=\"5759\" data-end=\"5762\" \/><strong data-start=\"5762\" data-end=\"5843\">Human creativity shifts from being a cost to being the rarest differentiator.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5845\" data-end=\"5940\">In a world where AI can reproduce styles and executions at speed, what cannot be replicated is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"5944\" data-end=\"5964\">cultural intuition<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"5967\" data-end=\"5981\">brand vision<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"5984\" data-end=\"6015\">deep contextual understanding<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"6018\" data-end=\"6058\">the ability to provoke without selling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"6060\" data-end=\"6180\">This will redefine how clients value us. They won\u2019t hire us mainly for \u201cproduction\u201d (AI does that). They\u2019ll hire us for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"6184\" data-end=\"6206\">conceptual direction<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"6209\" data-end=\"6233\">narratives that matter<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"6236\" data-end=\"6258\">creative positioning<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"6261\" data-end=\"6292\">ethical and quality oversight<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"6295\" data-end=\"6328\">bias management and sensitivity<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"6331\" data-end=\"6368\">originality and intellectual property<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"6375\" data-end=\"6482\"><strong data-start=\"6378\" data-end=\"6482\">The Creative Role Is Being Redefined: Less Production, More Conceptual Direction, More Deep Thinking<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"6484\" data-end=\"6764\">In my day-to-day work, it\u2019s no longer just about \u201ccreating artifacts,\u201d but <strong data-start=\"6559\" data-end=\"6584\">orchestrating meaning<\/strong>. At DUPLO, the creative who adjusts pixels is giving way to the creative who questions briefings, forms hypotheses, filters what AI proposes and turns it into something with soul.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6766\" data-end=\"6839\"><strong data-start=\"6766\" data-end=\"6839\">\u201cAI accelerates the journey, but it doesn\u2019t imagine the destination.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6841\" data-end=\"7027\">In practice, when launching a campaign, it\u2019s no longer \u201clet\u2019s generate X versions faster,\u201d but \u201cwhich version brings us closer to the deep insight and the behavior change we\u2019re seeking?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7029\" data-end=\"7168\">AI integration requires us to rethink our value chain:<br data-start=\"7083\" data-end=\"7086\" \/>How do we price strategy?<br data-start=\"7111\" data-end=\"7114\" \/>How do we measure creativity?<br data-start=\"7143\" data-end=\"7146\" \/>What new roles emerge?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7170\" data-end=\"7279\">Studies suggest the rise of hybrid profiles:<br data-start=\"7214\" data-end=\"7217\" \/><strong data-start=\"7217\" data-end=\"7279\">AI Creative Director, Prompt Engineer, Technical Creative.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"7286\" data-end=\"7318\"><strong data-start=\"7289\" data-end=\"7318\">The Creative Role Evolves<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"7322\" data-end=\"7348\">Less \u201cproducing assets\u201d.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"7351\" data-end=\"7378\">More \u201cdirecting meaning\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"7380\" data-end=\"7486\">The creative who adjusts pixels yields to the creative who questions, filters, provokes and thinks deeper.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7488\" data-end=\"7505\">As I like to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"7507\" data-end=\"7577\"><strong data-start=\"7507\" data-end=\"7577\">AI accelerates the path, but it doesn\u2019t imagine the destination.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 data-start=\"7584\" data-end=\"7635\"><strong data-start=\"7587\" data-end=\"7635\">Ethics, Intellectual Property and the Future<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"7637\" data-end=\"7768\">There\u2019s a conversation we cannot ignore: ethics. Because AI is not just a tool\u2014it\u2019s a mirror. Whatever we put in is reflected back.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"7770\" data-end=\"7802\"><strong data-start=\"7774\" data-end=\"7802\">Bias and Reproducibility<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"7804\" data-end=\"7986\">AI is trained on past data. If that data contains stereotypes or limited worldviews, AI will replicate them. As agencies, we have a responsibility to intervene, question and correct.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"7988\" data-end=\"8017\"><strong data-start=\"7992\" data-end=\"8017\">Intellectual Property<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"8019\" data-end=\"8219\">Who signs the idea when AI contributes to the draft? How do we preserve human authorship? At DUPLO, we work with models where AI is part of the process, but the final idea is <strong data-start=\"8194\" data-end=\"8218\">authored by the team<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"8221\" data-end=\"8251\"><strong data-start=\"8225\" data-end=\"8251\">Transparency and Trust<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"8253\" data-end=\"8406\">Consumers wonder whether what they see was created by humans or machines\u2014and rightly so. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amraandelma.com\/ai-generated-ad-creative-performance-statistics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Analyses<\/a> show that trust decreases when content seems \u201cAI-only.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"8408\" data-end=\"8429\"><strong data-start=\"8412\" data-end=\"8429\">Future Vision<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"8431\" data-end=\"8486\">Let me offer two predictions (and one provocative one):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-start=\"8491\" data-end=\"8635\">The line between \u201ccreativity\u201d and \u201cengineering\u201d will blur. Understanding prompts, data and systems will be as important as understanding tone.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"8639\" data-end=\"8839\">The agency that succeeds will be the one that elevates the humanity behind the idea\u2014culture, emotion, pause, conflict. Not because it rejects AI, but because it uses it to amplify the human element.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"8841\" data-end=\"9107\"><strong data-start=\"8841\" data-end=\"8857\">Provocative:<\/strong><br data-start=\"8857\" data-end=\"8860\" \/>Agencies that continue charging for production hours like they did a decade ago, without adapting, will become obsolete. As creative leader <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chris_Duffey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris Duffey<\/a> says:<br data-start=\"9018\" data-end=\"9021\" \/><strong data-start=\"9021\" data-end=\"9107\">\u201cAI isn\u2019t replacing the creative. It\u2019s replacing the creative who doesn\u2019t use AI.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9109\" data-end=\"9320\">At DUPLO, we embrace AI as a companion in the journey, not as a passenger taking the wheel.
